This project in Augsburg-Göggingen shows what wellness can look like when the plot is anything but generous. An outdoor sauna for small gardens has to achieve two things at once: claim little ground, and still feel like a real retreat. The compact building manages both – it settles into the garden without dominating it, while the floor-to-ceiling pane opens the small room wide towards the green. A little refuge that simply leaves everyday life outside the glass – proof that wellness does not need a large plot, only a well-planned one.
Göggingen is an established district with modest garden sizes – and precisely there this design proves its strength. The sauna occupies a compact footprint, yet the glazing makes it feel airy and open rather than boxed in. During planning we tune the size, the door position and the orientation of the pane to your plot: the view should reach trees and sky, not the neighbour's bins. On a small plot, those few degrees of rotation decide whether the sauna feels like a cabin or like a room in the garden. Nothing here is off the peg; everything is a response to the plot – the DESIGA outdoor sauna range shows how differently that response can turn out.
The floor-to-ceiling pane is the heart of this compact garden sauna. Instead of sweating in a windowless cabin, you sit with a free view of trees, beds and sky – lush green in summer, snow-dusted branches in winter. Especially in the colder months, the sauna becomes a warm refuge that turns the garden into a place of wellbeing all year round: you watch the weather from the bench instead of hiding from it. Or, in the customer's own words: a wonderfully beautiful sauna with a breathtaking view into the garden.
The building is as considered technically as it is visually. Inside, high-quality natural wood surfaces create the warm, quiet atmosphere a sauna room needs. Outside, a shell of weatherproof HPL (high-pressure laminate) by Trespa protects the building permanently: UV-resistant, frost-proof and impervious to rain, with no painting or re-treating ever – the material is designed for a service life of around 50 years. This combination keeps the sauna usable in every season: while it is 90 degrees inside, it can happily snow outside.
As an Augsburg company, we know the plot situations of the region from many completed projects: narrow side strips, close neighbours, awkward boundaries. That local experience flows into every plan – which is why a sauna like this one works on a town plot where an off-the-shelf building would sit awkwardly or waste the little space there is. The result is not a scaled-down compromise but a sauna conceived for exactly this situation.
Building shell, glazing and sauna technology are matched to each other from the first sketch, and for the exterior you choose from over 250 HPL colours and décors. Free colour samples are sent to your home, so you can compare them against façade and planting in real daylight rather than on a screen.
Every DESIGA garden sauna is developed in-house and manufactured in Germany, with delivery available across Europe. On request our own assembly team installs the building on site – alternatively you can assemble it yourself, guided by a detailed step-by-step assembly video. Are you dreaming of a sauna in your own garden, however small it may be – in Augsburg or far beyond? Send us an enquiry via the contact form and we will come back to you with concrete suggestions for size, glazing and price, tailored to your plot.
No impregnating, sanding or painting - never again thanks to HPL!
