An anthracite sideboard brings order to the terrace without pushing itself into the foreground. In this project, the long, low body runs along the terrace edge and forms a quiet, dark line in front of the planting – present enough to structure the space, restrained enough to let garden and house speak first. Storage becomes part of the composition instead of an interruption to it. Anyone searching for a piece in this tone usually wants exactly this effect: depth without drama, order without visual noise.
The tone was not chosen in isolation: it picks up the window frames and the roof edge of the house, so the piece looks as though it had been part of the plan from the very beginning – not like furniture that was carried outside at some point. This is the quiet difference between decorating a terrace and designing one: colours and lines continue, and the eye reads house and garden as one. On terraces with light stone or timber flooring, the dark body also gives the seating area a visible anchor – the space feels framed rather than furnished.
Dark surfaces have a reputation for being difficult outside: they are said to fade, to show every trace of limescale, to demand constant attention. The HPL panels from which every sideboard is built take the ground from under that objection. The surface is UV-resistant and does not fade even after years in the sun; rain washes dirt away by itself. Painting or oiling is never required – the anthracite stays as deep as on the first day, season after season. Even everyday knocks leave the closed, hard-wearing surface unimpressed, which matters on a piece whose top is in constant use.
Behind the doors disappears everything that otherwise lies around openly on a terrace: seat cushions and pads, tableware for the evening outdoors, tools and accessories. The low height has a double benefit – it keeps sightlines across the garden open, and it turns the top into a usable surface: a shelf for planters in everyday life, a buffet when guests come. One piece, the length of the terrace, and suddenly there is a place for everything. The evening routine shrinks to a minute: doors open, cushions in, doors closed – and the terrace is presentable again.
The same construction works one floor up. As a balcony piece it makes use of low parapet zones; on a roof terrace it stands up to wind and weather without complaint. Because every piece in our range of outdoor sideboards and cabinets is made to measure, the niche, the parapet or the width of the terrace determines the format – not the other way round. Where the situation allows, the body can stretch to three metres and beyond, always as a single calm line. Awkward corners, downpipes or a parapet at an unusual height stop being problems and simply become measurements in the plan.
Anthracite is one of seven neutral standard tones – in total, over 250 HPL colours and finishes are available, from light natural shades to deep black – and free HPL colour samples are sent to your home before you decide, so the effect can be judged against your own façade. Door layout, compartments and dimensions are defined during planning, so the interior matches what will actually live inside.
Design, development and production have come from one house in Bavaria, Germany since 2011, and that experience shows in the details: precise edges, tight joints and a body that keeps its composure outdoors for years. Every sideboard leaves the workshop fully assembled and is delivered by specialist carrier – ready to use on arrival, with delivery available across Europe.
