A bespoke garden shed really comes into its own where standard models are supposed to fit but simply don’t: along sloping boundaries, in alcoves and on leftover plots with irregular floor plans. This project in Aichach is a prime example of this. Between the house and the property boundary lay a space that no rectangular garden shed could have filled effectively. The solution: a bespoke design with a sloping wall that follows the boundary line exactly – transforming an unused nook into a high-quality feature of the outdoor space that adds value to the property.
Where a plot boundary does not run at a right angle, a standard garden shed inevitably wastes space – leaving a wedge-shaped gap at the front and a dead corner at the back. With this garden shed, the rear wall was deliberately designed at an angle: the structure makes full use of the available space, right up to the boundary. From the outside, the shed looks entirely natural – the cubic design language is retained, and the slant only becomes apparent at second glance. This is precisely what a bespoke design aims to achieve: bespoke solutions that do not look like bespoke solutions.
The sliding door was deliberately positioned on the short side of the building – this lends the long façade a calm, uncluttered appearance. From the main house, the view falls upon a generous expanse of toughened safety glass, which breaks up the solid appearance and creates a sense of transparency. Designed as a classic passage house, the building connects two garden areas whilst also forming a spatial boundary with the garden. The choice of materials and lines harmonise with the existing pergola in the terrace area – the new build and the existing structure appear as if they were cast from the same mould. A similar solution can be seen in our garden shed with two doors and a passageway.
The façade consists of HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) from Trespa – weatherproof, UV-resistant and frost-proof. The surface does not fade in the sun, rain washes away dirt, and there is no need for painting or impregnation in the long term; it is estimated to have a lifespan of around 50 years. Behind this lies a substructure made of C24 solid structural timber, statically calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5. The timber is protected by the structure itself – adjustable feet and under-floor ventilation rather than chemicals.
It all starts with your specific situation: the plot, the boundary lines, and the intended use. On this basis, we design your bespoke garden shed – the floor plan, wall layout, doors, windows and roof overhang are tailored to your plot with centimetre precision. Sloping walls, passageways, extensions attached to a garage or house wall: whatever is structurally feasible will be implemented. You also choose the colour – there are over 250 HPL colours and finishes to choose from, and we’ll send free colour samples to your home.
Every bespoke garden shed is designed by us and manufactured in Germany – we deliver throughout Europe and, on request, we’ll take care of on-site assembly. Over 2,000 completed projects and a 5-star rating from more than 220 Google reviews show that this attention to detail pays off.
