The ultimate material comparison: Why HPL is the best choice for your garden shed
A modern designer garden shed from DESIGA® is not only synonymous with aesthetic perfection, but also with a responsible approach to materials. At a time when environmental considerations and a healthy living environment are becoming increasingly important, we opt for materials that combine top-class technical performance with environmental transparency.
Although the façade of your HPL project looks like a high-performance industrial product, it consists largely of natural materials. Around 70% of the panels are based on fibres derived from wood or paper. Thanks to this high proportion of renewable raw materials, the panels actively sequester CO2 – the biogenic carbon content stands at a remarkable 61%. Combined with an estimated lifespan of around 50 years, this modern design solution is one of the most sustainable investments for your garden.

Especially if you use your modern garden shed as a home office, studio or hobby room, the air quality inside is crucial. Our materials meet the strict requirements of emission class E1.
To put this into context: formaldehyde is a substance found in almost all wood-based materials. Class E1 is the Europe-wide recognised ‘gold standard’ for indoor use. It guarantees that emissions are so negligible (below the strict legal limits) that the material can be used without hesitation for building furniture and in living and sleeping areas. For you, this means: you can breathe deeply in your new space and work or relax in a healthy environment.

Safety is a key consideration in any outdoor construction project, particularly when installing structures close to the property boundary. The façade panels we use meet the requirements of fire safety class B2 (normally flammable) in accordance with the German standard DIN 4102-1. This complies with the established safety standard for construction products in garden areas and offers reliable protection for your property. On request, the panels can also be supplied in fire safety class B1. In addition, our panels have been tested for environmental safety: they contain no substances of very high concern (SVHC) in concentrations exceeding 0.1%. This means you are choosing a product that respects people, animals and nature in equal measure.
