Anthracite-coloured firewood rack – storing firewood in style

Well-ventilated and organised: how to dry firewood properly

For firewood to burn cleanly, it needs a residual moisture content of less than 20 per cent – and this is achieved above all when air can circulate freely. This is precisely what the DESIGA firewood rack is designed for: The open front and the gap between the rack and the ground ensure good ventilation of the wood stack. The wood does not rest on the ground but on a raised surface – keeping waterlogging and rising damp at bay. Those who heat regularly can conveniently remove the dry logs from the front and restock with fresh wood.

HPL: the weather-resistant material for continuous outdoor use

The firewood rack is made from HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) by Trespa – the material we have been committed to for over a decade. HPL is a laminate pressed under high pressure that is weatherproof, UV-resistant and frost-proof: the anthracite-coloured surface does not fade even after years in the sun, and rain simply washes away any dirt. Unlike a wooden rack, an HPL firewood rack never needs to be painted, oiled or treated – it is permanently maintenance-free and designed to last for around 50 years. This is a particular advantage when placed next to a stack of firewood: the rack does not weather over time, but retains its precise, cubic appearance.

What size should your firewood rack be?

The size of the firewood rack you need depends on your heating habits. If you only light the fire occasionally on cold evenings, a compact rack with a capacity of around one cubic metre will suffice. If you heat regularly throughout the entire heating season, you should allow for several cubic metres – ideally so that freshly delivered wood can dry out undisturbed, whilst the dry supply remains within easy reach. A larger storage area can be divided into zones: the wood ready for the stove at the front, with the supply next to it.
