A modern firewood storage unit can do more than just stack logs. This 260 cm wide HPL firewood storage unit proves it: at first glance, a spacious storage space for firewood; on closer inspection, a deliberately integrated element of the outdoor design – one that elegantly solves two problems on the property. It is precisely this dual role that distinguishes a purpose-built wood store from a shelf added as an afterthought.
On site, the wood store fulfils two additional functions. Firstly, it harmoniously extends the L-shaped blocks of the upper garden level and visually continues the line of the layout cleanly – the retaining wall becomes a continuous design feature. Secondly, it creates a modern privacy screen for the visually unappealing heat pump behind it. Timber storage, boundary and privacy screen all in one: tidiness, improved aesthetics and a clear enhancement of the entire area.
At 2.60 metres wide, the storage unit holds a substantial supply of firewood – neatly arranged on a single level, well-ventilated and within easy reach. The filled wood front becomes a design feature in its own right: the warm, irregular texture of the logs contrasts with the understated HPL framing and brings a natural feel to modern garden architecture.
The firewood store is made from HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) by Trespa – UV-resistant, frost-proof and rainproof. The surface does not fade; dirt is washed away by the rain; it never needs painting or impregnation; it is designed to last around 50 years. Whilst the firewood comes and goes, the frame remains as precise as on the first day.
