A garden building does not have to end at the lawnmower and the watering can. This project in Leitershofen shows how the classic tool shed becomes a modern garden workshop – a place for creative projects in the open air, just a few steps from the terrace. Whether it is woodwork, painting or repairing beloved things: the way to your own workbench now leads through the garden rather than down into the cellar. For us as an Augsburg company, this project was a home game – every DESIGA building is planned and developed locally.
The use of the interior is tailored precisely to the needs of its owner – as a studio, a workshop or a private retreat. Workbench, shelving and materials all find their fixed place, while daylight and ventilation are considered from the very first planning step. The result is a reliable base for projects that never found the right setting in a cellar or garage – and the plot gains a clean-lined building that visibly enhances it. Because the workshop stands only a few steps from the terrace, a started project can simply rest on the workbench overnight and be continued exactly where it stopped - no carrying tools up from the cellar, no clearing out the garage first. In Leitershofen this turns the building into a genuine extension of the living space: a room that invites regular use rather than a shed that is merely visited when something needs to be fetched.
Anyone who works in their workshop does not want to work on its façade. The outer skin of HPL (high-pressure laminate) by Trespa is UV-resistant, frost-proof and impervious to rain. The surface does not fade, dirt is simply washed off by the rain, and painting is never required – the material is calculated for a service life of around 50 years. So while projects come and go inside, the outside quietly takes care of itself, season after season.
Behind the flawless panels sits a load-bearing substructure of C24 structural timber, statically calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5. This engineering is what separates a genuine garden workshop from a bolted-together shed: walls that can carry shelving and tools, a structure that stays true, and a building that feels solid every time you slide the door open to start the next project.
The building is available in standard sizes and as a made-to-measure design – as a tool room, as a dedicated workshop or as a combination of the two, with storage on one side and workspace on the other. Width, depth and layout follow the way you actually work. How versatile these buildings are is shown by another Augsburg reference: the modern gazebo in Göggingen, a close relative of this workshop in spirit and design language. You will find all formats and options in our garden shed range.
For the façade you choose from over 250 HPL colours and décors – free samples are posted to your home, so you can check your favourite shade against house and garden before you decide.
Every DESIGA garden building is developed in-house and manufactured in Germany. Delivery is available across Europe, and on request our own assembly team installs the building on site – or you put it up yourself, guided by a detailed step-by-step assembly video.

Customer review:
Excellent advice! Thanks to Mr Hart’s reliable and punctual installation, we now have a perfect, modern garden shed with an attractive design in our garden. Both the shed and the management of the work are absolutely worth the price; the quoted price also matched the invoice. The very careful and meticulous workmanship is a testament to a high level of professionalism and experience.” H.S.![]()
