A designer garden shed is more than a place to keep things: it is a statement. This made-to-measure Cube tool house in Königsbrunn shows how powerful the combination of cubic form and living steel surface can be – a design piece that holds its own between planting and modern surroundings instead of hiding behind them. The warm, rust-red façade turns a practical building into the focal point of the garden – a piece you position as deliberately as a sculpture, and use as naturally as a cupboard.
The highlight of this project is the façade of genuine Corten steel. Under the influence of the weather, the material develops its characteristic patina – and with it, an appearance that keeps evolving: from warm gold and orange tones in the sunshine to a deep, earthy dark brown in damp weather. No paint in the world achieves this liveliness; the building looks different in the morning than in the evening, in spring than in autumn. Beyond the look, the patina has a function: the rust layer forms a protective barrier that shields the steel from further corrosion. The building becomes virtually indestructible and completely maintenance-free – no painting, no impregnating, ever.
The cubic basic form gives the lively material its calm frame: clear edges, precise joints, a flat roof. As a made-to-measure design from our range of garden sheds, the Cube was planned exactly for its place in the garden – footprint, height and door position follow the situation on site rather than a catalogue page. Inside, the tool house offers ordered, lockable storage for garden equipment, tools and accessories, so the striking exterior is matched by quiet order within.
Not every project calls for real steel. Anyone who loves the warm rust aesthetic but prefers the lower weight and sealed surface of HPL chooses the Corten décor from our Trespa HPL range – deceptively close in appearance, yet UV-resistant, frost-proof and with a smooth, easy-care surface that never changes. Our reference of a garden building in Corten décor HPL shows how convincing this alternative looks. We are happy to advise which variant suits your location and your expectations.
Whether real steel or HPL: every bespoke designer shed is planned to the centimetre for your plot – with a statically calculated substructure of C24 structural timber, engineered in accordance with Eurocode 5.
Alongside Corten steel and the Corten décor, more than 250 HPL colours and finishes stand ready – from white and steel grey to deep black – and free HPL colour samples come to your home, so the decision can be made in your own garden rather than in a showroom.
The beauty of this project lies in its double role: as a sculptural object it gives the garden character, and as a tool house it removes the everyday clutter that would otherwise dilute exactly that character. Mower, tools and accessories disappear behind the living façade – and what remains visible is a calm, ordered garden with a clear centre of gravity.
Development happens in-house and manufacturing in Germany, with delivery to gardens across Europe. On request, our own assembly team installs the building on site; alternatively you build it yourself, supported by a detailed step-by-step video.
