A Corten steel garden shed is more than just storage space: it makes a statement. This bespoke Cube tool shed in Königsbrunn demonstrates just how striking the combination of a cubic shape and a vibrant steel surface can be – a design statement that holds its own amidst the planting and modern architecture, rather than hiding away. The warm, rust-red façade makes the tool shed the focal point of the garden.
The highlight of this project is the façade made of genuine Corten steel. Under the influence of the weather, the material develops its characteristic patina – and thus constantly changes its appearance: from warm gold and orange tones in the sun to a deep, earthy dark brown in damp weather. No paint in the world can match this vibrancy. Beyond its visual appeal, the patina serves a practical purpose: the layer of rust forms a protective barrier that shields the steel from further corrosion – making the garden shed virtually indestructible and completely maintenance-free. No painting, no waterproofing.
The basic cubic shape provides a calm framework for this living material: clean edges, precise joints, a flat roof. As a bespoke design, the Cube was planned precisely for its place in the garden – its footprint, height and door position are tailored to the site conditions. Inside, the shed offers organised, lockable storage space for garden tools, equipment and accessories.
