The corten sauna – wellness as a statement

A design sauna for the garden has to meet two expectations: inside, a place of calm; outside, an object that visibly raises the garden. This project makes a confident mark on both counts – a corten sauna with an outer shell in Corten steel décor that lets the building stand in the garden like a piece of design in its own right. The warm, earthy rust look plays against the green of the planting, and the sauna session becomes an experience that begins with the first glance out of the living-room window, long before you reach for a towel.

The rust look of Corten steel – without its drawbacks

Choosing the Corten steel décor for the outer shell is a deliberate design statement. Unlike real Corten steel, the HPL décor by Trespa does not rub off or stain, stays smooth and easy to care for – and keeps its warm, rusty character permanently without corroding any further. The shell is UV-resistant, frost-proof and impervious to rain: a sauna stands outside all year, under snow loads as under summer sun. Painting or re-treating is never required; the material is designed for a service life of around 50 years. All the character of weathered steel, none of its maintenance – and no rust streaks on the terrace slabs below, which real corten happily leaves behind.

Industrial character outside, soft wood inside

Behind the striking façade waits everything that makes a good sauna: warm, natural wood surfaces, a considered interior layout and sauna technology matched to the building itself rather than fitted in as an afterthought. The contrast is the point – outside the industrial décor, inside the soft, warm world of wood. Whoever closes the door leaves the everyday firmly on the other side of it. The building announces itself boldly; the room inside speaks quietly.

Glazed or closed: configured for your garden

We plan each sauna around plot and sightlines – with XXL panoramic glazing when the view into the green is the theme, or more enclosed when privacy matters most on your plot. Door position, orientation and proportions follow the place the building will occupy, so the striking shell also sits naturally in its surroundings instead of merely being parked there.
