The sliding door is to the garden what it has long been to the home: the elegant solution to limited space. This exclusive garden shed in Ulm features them twice over – two large sliding doors open the bespoke structure from both sides, turning it into a walk-through shed. No door leaf swings into a flowerbed or along a path, no fiddling about with a wheelbarrow in front of a half-open door: the door slides to the side, clearing the way.
A traditional hinged door requires space to swing open – an area in front of the garden shed that must be kept clear at all times. Sliding doors, on the other hand, run parallel to the façade: the area in front of the shed remains fully usable, and even wide openings can be created without a huge door leaf getting in the way. Good to know for planning: our sliding doors run on the inside and, due to their design, are set back about 6 cm – we take this into account when planning the layout right from the start. The precise, made-to-measure fit ensures that not a single valuable square metre goes to waste.
As well as its functional layout, this room module impresses with its details. The sliding doors feature high-quality stainless steel handles that feel great to the touch and emphasise the minimalist look. A key convenience feature is the unified locking system: a single key locks both entrances – this significantly simplifies day-to-day use whilst guaranteeing a high level of security for the equipment stored inside.
The façade is made of HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) from Trespa – UV-resistant, frost-proof and rainproof. The building remains permanently maintenance-free and retains its precise shape and colour stability for decades; its expected lifespan is around 50 years. Dimensional stability is particularly beneficial with sliding doors: materials that do not warp will not jam, even after many years. The load-bearing substructure, made from C24 solid structural timber, has been statically calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5.
This project was a bespoke design – the floor plan, door positions and height were precisely tailored to the site in Ulm. This is exactly how we design every bespoke garden shed: the number of doors, door type and layout are tailored to your specific needs. Our reference project for a Cube garden shed in anthracite with a sliding door demonstrates how a single sliding door defines the look of a compact, designer garden shed.
Whether you prefer a subtle façade colour or a bold accent: you can choose from over 250 HPL colours and finishes – we’ll send colour samples to your home in advance, free of charge. We design every garden shed ourselves and manufacture it in Germany – with delivery across Europe and on-site assembly available on request. Over 2,000 completed projects and a 5-star rating from more than 220 Google reviews speak to the care we take.
