Genuine corten steel: patina as the programme

Corten steel changes its face with the sky above it – from warm orange tones in sunshine to deep earth brown in the rain. The rust layer is not a flaw but a protection: it seals the steel against further corrosion and makes the façade practically indestructible and maintenance-free. At 2 mm, the cladding is massive enough to shrug off knocks and decades outdoors – and it is never painted or impregnated. The material simply does what it was developed to do: age with character. Where painted surfaces demand attention year after year, the steel takes care of itself – season by season, layer by layer.

Toughened safety glass: light in the massive cube

The generous glazing of toughened safety glass sets the counterpoint to the heavy steel façade. It loosens the appearance and brings daylight deep into the interior: whoever works, sorts or searches inside does so by natural light rather than in the dark. From the outside, the appeal lies in the interplay – raw, warm steel against a smooth, reflecting surface of glass. In the morning the glazing mirrors the garden; in the evening the interior glows through it like a lantern.

Made to measure and fully assembled on site

This building is a bespoke piece and is assembled by us on site. You need to concern yourself neither with the construction nor with the working of this demanding material – you take over a finished building and use it from day one: as storage space, as a quiet retreat or simply as the visual anchor of the garden that draws every eye. The basis is the same planning we apply to every made-to-measure garden shed: floor plan, glazing and door position follow your plot, its boundaries and the way you move through the garden – not the other way round.

A striking presence with serious storage

For all its presence, the building remains thoroughly practical: behind the steel façade lies generous, organised space for everything a garden wants stored away. The character comes from the material, not from ornament – which is why the appearance stays calm and grows more interesting the longer the patina develops. No two days, and no two corten buildings, look quite the same – and that is precisely the point of choosing this material over any printed imitation.

Real steel or corten-effect HPL: you have the choice

Alongside genuine corten steel we offer a corten décor made of Trespa HPL – easy-care and without any rub-off on clothing or hands – as well as over 250 further HPL colours and décors. Free colour samples are sent to your home in advance, and we advise you on which material suits your location and your expectations. Both routes lead to the corten look; only one of them comes with a living patina. Which one is right depends on where the building stands, who brushes past it and how much change you want to watch.
