Garden shed with two entrances – the narrow storage space wonder

A garden shed with two entrances might sound like a luxury at first – but in fact, for narrow, long floor plans, it’s the cleverest solution of all. This garden shed shows why: instead of a central entrance, a sliding door has been fitted on both the left and right-hand sides. This allows you to enter the shed from both sides and make use of the full length of the walls for shelving, tools and storage – without having to keep a wide aisle clear across the entire depth, which would take up valuable floor space.

Why two doors mean more storage space

With a single, central entrance, every long garden shed needs an internal ‘aisle’ to ensure all areas remain accessible. If, on the other hand, the doors are at either end, the interior space in between remains fully usable: Shelves run the full length of the walls, tools are packed tightly together, and yet everything is easily accessible – you simply approach from the appropriate side. This makes the long garden shed feel considerably more spacious than its floor area would suggest. What might seem like a stopgap solution becomes a well-thought-out storage concept.

Sliding doors: access points that take up no space

Both entrances feature sliding doors – they open without a door leaf swinging out into the garden. This ensures that every centimetre remains usable, particularly along narrow paths and flowerbeds. Good to know for planning: our sliding doors run on the inside and, due to their design, are set back by around 6 cm – we take this into account when planning the layout right from the start.

HPL from Trespa: the weatherproof cladding

The façade is made of HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) from Trespa – weatherproof, UV-resistant and frost-proof. The surface does not fade in the sun, rain washes away dirt, and it never needs to be painted or impregnated; it is estimated to have a service life of around 50 years. Behind this lies a load-bearing substructure made of C24 solid structural timber, statically calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5 – timber protection achieved through a design featuring adjustable feet and under-ventilation rather than chemical treatments.
