This project focused on one clear desire: to create space in the garage while remaining flexible in everyday life. The spacious designer garden shed accommodates bicycles, garden tools and other equipment that previously cluttered up the garage. The base plate was deliberately made larger than the garden shed itself – the area in front of it functions as a manoeuvring zone where bicycles can be easily turned, parked or loaded without having to move onto the lawn. This creates a clearly structured process: the garage is free, access to the garden shed is convenient and the movement area is clearly defined.
Visually, the customer wanted a calm, understated structure. Instead of glass surfaces, the decision was made to go for a closed, purist design in matt grey. The minimalist front and clear edges give the garden shed the appearance of a homogeneous design object that blends unobtrusively into the garden. The HPL surface is designed for long-term outdoor use – it is UV-resistant, dimensionally stable and easy to maintain. This ensures that the matt appearance is retained in the long term, even with intensive use of the manoeuvring area directly in front of the garden shed.
