Modern waste separation has a visible side effect: general waste, paper, organics and recycling quickly add up to four bins in front of the house – a restless, rarely attractive row. This 4 bin store gathers all four behind a single, straight-lined front in anthracite. The dark surface manages a rare balance: understated and high-quality at once, it works next to light render and natural stone just as well as alongside dark window frames on a contemporary home. The necessary evil of the bin row becomes a tidy, deliberate element of the front garden.
The everyday masterstroke sits in the flip lid. Open the lid of the unit and the lid of the bin inside swings up with it – automatically, in the same movement. The bag goes into the bin one-handed, and at no point do you touch the bin lid itself. Anyone who has ever balanced a full bag while wrestling a bin lid open knows exactly why this detail matters, several times a day. It turns the most frequent hand movement at the unit into the easiest one.
Designed as a freestanding standard model, the unit takes either 120-litre or 240-litre wheelie bins. Every bin stands behind its own door and can be taken out individually – no manoeuvring, no pushing the neighbouring bin aside. On collection day you roll out exactly the bin that is due, and nothing else moves. Afterwards it rolls back behind its door, the front closes into one continuous surface, and the four-part waste station looks as composed as a built-in cupboard.
The unit is built from HPL (high-pressure laminate) by Trespa – the material we have concentrated on for more than a decade. HPL is weatherproof, UV-resistant and frost-proof: the anthracite surface does not fade even after years in the sun, and rain simply washes dirt away. With an impact resistance of over 40 newtons it shrugs off hail as well as the odd knock from a bin. Painting, oiling or sealing is permanently off the list – the calculated service life is around 50 years. At a spot you use daily and would rather never maintain, that is the decisive difference to timber or powder-coated metal.
Our modern bin stores come as standard models for two, three and four bins – and as bespoke builds for any other number. During planning we take into account the dimensions of your bins, the swing of the doors and the route to the street on collection day. Special requests such as an integrated letterbox or a parcel compartment can be built in as well. The result is a unit planned around your forecourt rather than a compromise your forecourt has to live with. If you are looking for a smaller solution, one of our references shows a compact three-bin unit for 120-litre bins.
The anthracite shown here is one of our most frequently chosen tones – elegant and calm without the hardness of deep black – and it is joined by over 250 further HPL colours and décors, from white and steel grey through to wood and Corten steel looks. Free HPL colour samples are posted to your home, so you can match the unit precisely to façade, front door or driveway before you decide.
This 4 bin store is developed in-house and manufactured in Germany – and a unit of this size is delivered and installed at its final position by our own team, so doors, lids and joints sit exactly as intended from the first day.
