The DESIGA heat pump casing – still known to many by its former name, design@garten – demonstrates in this project what a well-thought-out design feature can achieve when set against classic architecture. A particularly interesting contrast emerges against the brick façade: on the one hand, the traditional, vibrant brick wall; on the other, the clean-lined, modern cube of the casing. Two worlds that enhance one another.

Protection against hail, rain and vandalism

The cladding protects the heat pump from hail, rain and vandalism – thereby helping to ensure the unit has a long service life. Wear and tear is reduced, the sensitive fins are no longer directly exposed to the elements, and the appearance is far more attractive than a bare unit right on the doorstep could ever be. In highly visible locations in particular, both protection and appearance matter.

For homes where the appearance mustn’t be compromised

Many homeowners put off installing a heat pump because they don’t want it to detract from the building’s appearance – which is understandable in the case of a well-maintained brick house. The heat pump casing resolves this dilemma: thanks to its timeless design, it is ideally suited for use in front of and on buildings with character. HPL from Trespa: as maintenance-free as the brick wall behind it

The casing is made from HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) by Trespa – UV-resistant, frost-proof and rainproof. The surface does not fade, dirt is washed away by the rain, and it never needs painting; it is expected to last for around 50 years. Slats and carefully calculated internal spacing keep the heat pump’s air ducts clear – ensuring the unit continues to operate without restriction.
