When two households live next door to each other, there can easily be six or more bins on the doorstep – and nobody feels responsible for them. These freestanding bin shelters for 240-litre bins offer a communal solution: a modern shelter that organises both neighbours’ bins and gives the shared front area a clear, uncluttered structure. Functional for two households – and a visible improvement to the area in front of the front door.
The freestanding design means the solution is independent of the house wall and garage – the enclosures are positioned where it suits both parties, usually on the boundary between the entrances. Each bin remains individually accessible, and each household retains its own compartments. The result: a uniform street-front appearance and a clean, tidy front garden area – instead of two competing makeshift arrangements.
The bin enclosures not only organise the outdoor area, they also enhance its appearance: they neatly demarcate the front garden and create a clear boundary between the entrance, the planting and the bin area. The interplay with the greenery works particularly well here – the plants no longer look like mere decoration next to the bins, but form part of the overall picture.
A shelter for two households is used twice as often – the material has to be able to cope. The cladding made from HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) by Trespa is UV-resistant, frost-proof and rainproof; with an impact resistance of over 40 newtons, it withstands the daily handling of heavy 240-litre bins without batting an eyelid. It never needs painting or waterproofing – it’s designed to last around 50 years. This also keeps cost-sharing simple: buy it once, use it for decades.
We design our modern waste bin enclosure to suit the number of bins in both households – as a continuous row or as separate enclosures, for 120- and 240-litre bins, with a letterbox or parcel compartment for each household on request. Our case study of a modern bin enclosure demonstrates how the enclosed structure looks as a standalone solution.
Particularly for semi-detached and terraced houses, it’s important to choose a colour that complements both façades: you can choose from over 250 HPL colours and finishes – we’ll send colour samples to your home in advance, free of charge. We design every bin enclosure ourselves and manufacture it in Germany – with delivery across Europe and on-site installation available on request. Over 2,000 completed projects and a 5-star rating (out of 5) from more than 220 Google reviews speak to the care we take.
