Air conditioning units and heat pumps installed out in the garden or next to the patio have a problem: they are left exposed to the elements and right in plain sight. This robust HPL enclosure offers the solution to precisely this situation – a freestanding housing that completely encloses the unit without restricting its function. Instead of an out-of-place technical object, there is now a calm, clean-lined cube in the outdoor area that blends into its surroundings.
The added value is particularly evident in the event of hail: instead of exposed fins or parts of the casing, the equipment is provided with a clearly defined protective space. The enclosure also reduces direct UV radiation on the unit and minimises the surface area exposed to the wind. The unit’s casing retains its appearance for longer, and sensitive areas are no longer directly exposed to the elements – a difference that pays off over the years, as heat pumps and air-conditioning systems are long-term investments.
A cladding must not ‘block’ the system: air-source heat pumps and air-conditioning units require unobstructed air pathways; otherwise, efficiency drops. That is why the cladding is designed to ensure the technology can continue to operate effectively – with slats for supply and exhaust air and automatically calculated internal clearances between the unit and the cladding. Maintenance access is also taken into account from the outset: should servicing be required, the unit remains easily accessible to the technician.
HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) has its origins in façade construction and is specifically designed to withstand long-term exposure to the elements. We use panels from Trespa: UV-resistant, frost-proof, rain-resistant and with an impact resistance of over 40 newtons. In everyday use, the cladding is therefore pleasantly low-maintenance – no paint maintenance, no repainting, just keep it clean; dirt is usually washed away by the rain. A service life of around 50 years is anticipated.
Whether mounted on a house wall or freestanding in the garden: our cladding for heat pumps and air conditioning units is always made to the exact dimensions of the unit – regardless of the manufacturer, and optionally with or without rear panelling and slats. In freestanding solutions such as this one, the enclosure surrounds the unit on all visible sides. In the configurator, you enter the dimensions of your unit; internal clearances and the price are calculated automatically. Our case study of an XXL casing for heat pumps demonstrates how this works for particularly large systems.
Whether you prefer a subtle match to your façade or a bold accent: you can choose from over 250 HPL colours and finishes – ranging from white through shades of grey to anthracite and wood-effect finishes. We’ll send free HPL colour samples to your home in advance. We design every enclosure ourselves and manufacture it in Germany – with delivery across Europe and installation available on request. Over 2,000 completed projects and a 5-star rating from more than 220 Google reviews speak to the care we take.
