Why the masonry route is less permanent than it looks

A brick-built bin shelter is immovable in every sense. If the number of bins changes, if the council revises its collection rules or if the spot in front of the house is replanned, the demolition begins. The HPL unit offers the massive appearance without that finality: it stands on adjustable feet that level out uneven ground, and it can be moved or extended whenever life changes. Permanence, in other words, without being set in stone. What arrives as a finished, precisely built unit stays exactly as adaptable as a well-planned forecourt sometimes needs to be.

No cracks, no efflorescence, never repainted

The material itself – HPL (high-pressure laminate) by Trespa – is engineered for permanent exposure to the weather: UV-resistant, frost-proof and rain-proof, with an impact resistance of over 40 newtons that makes it indifferent to the daily handling of heavy bins. Unlike rendered masonry, HPL does not crack, does not effloresce and never needs painting. The calculated service life is around 50 years – the durability people hope for from brick, without brick’s upkeep. Rain does the cleaning: dirt simply washes off the closed surface, and the deep anthracite keeps its depth of colour season after season.

Four 240-litre bins on 296 by 83 centimetres

As a standard model, this unit houses four large 240-litre wheelie bins on a footprint of 296 cm width and 83 cm depth. Each bin stands behind its own door and can be rolled out individually, without disturbing its neighbours. The anthracite front picks up dark window frames and contemporary façades, letting the unit read as a planned element of the outdoor space – not as something parked there after the fact. Four bins disappear; one calm, rectilinear body remains.

Our bin stores are available as standard models for two, three or four bins and as bespoke builds for any other number – for 120-litre and 240-litre bins alike.
