A balcony cupboard has to be two things at once: compact enough for limited space and spacious enough for everything you need outdoors. This bespoke sideboard in Ehingen shows how the two go hand in hand – functional, made-to-measure storage, packaged in a piece of furniture with a clear penchant for design: handle-free fronts, clean lines, precise joints.
The doors open via Tip-On at the slightest touch – handles and fittings are completely omitted. The result is a consistently understated look that emphasises the piece’s modern character: from the outside, the sideboard appears like a designed wall surface; only when touched does the storage space behind it reveal itself. This understated design really pays off, particularly on balconies and compact terraces, where the furniture is always in plain sight.
As it is made to measure, the sideboard offers exactly the storage space required for garden tools and cushions – no more, no less. The width, depth and height are tailored to the available space, whilst the internal layout is designed for practical use. This is crucial for a balcony cupboard: standard sizes rarely fit between the railing, wall and door – but a made-to-measure piece does.
The high-quality HPL panels from Trespa ensure that the weatherproof sideboard remains permanently UV-resistant and impervious to moisture. There is absolutely no need for regular repainting or sanding – it is estimated to have a lifespan of around 50 years. A piece of furniture that lives outdoors permanently without requiring any maintenance.
