This project in Freinsheim shows what can grow out of that approach: a generous pool storage cabinet, planned as a piece of made-to-measure work for two tasks at once. Nets, pool care products, cushions, glasses and garden tools all find their place behind one continuous, calm front – exactly where they are needed, a few steps from the water and the table.

Made to measure means: the cabinet follows the terrace

Standard furniture forces the terrace into a compromise – the made-to-measure cabinet turns that relationship around. Width, depth and height were planned here precisely to the available area, the interior layout to the way it is actually used: tall compartments for bulky pool equipment, shelves for small items, space for cushions. Nothing had to be squeezed in, nothing is left over. The result feels less like furniture placed on the terrace and more like a piece of the terrace itself – planned with it, not after it.

The joint pattern: structure for a large front

A cabinet of this size could easily look monolithic. Here, the joint pattern structures the body, gives the large surface a composed rhythm and visually lightens the whole piece – a detail that turns a storage unit into a designed element of the terrace. From the pool you see a calm, ordered front; only when the doors open does the sheer capacity behind it become apparent.

HPL: lightfast, care-free and permanently precise

The cabinet is made from HPL (high-pressure laminate) by Trespa, and the investment pays off twice. The surface is permanently lightfast and needs no care beyond an occasional clean – no painting, no oiling, no re-treating. At the same time the material stays dimensionally stable: doors and joints sit as precisely after years of sun, rain and frost as they did on day one. The material is calculated for a service life of around 50 years.

From sideboard to full storage wall: the bespoke range
